Design and artwork on European advertising campaigns featuring a new look and feel for a fresh range of watches from this famous Swiss brand. Artwork ran across multiple out-of-house formats. (Art direction by Eric Chia).
Brochure and direct mail pieces for London’s biggest exhibition centre. Specifically briefed to come up with a range of materials to promote ExCeL’s suite of hi-tech IT services that enable exhibitors to remain ‘InTouch’ with their business and clients whilst exhibiting. I wanted the concept to breathe warmth into otherwise cold subject matter, so used rich photography of everyday items shot with short depth of field to illustrate the various benefits of the InTouch services.
I had an absolute blast designing this fine art book for professional oil painter Melissa Hefferlin. The challenge was to layout pages that allowed the work to shine, but still create a book with a great flow for the viewer. The vibrance of her work was a huge pleasure to work with, and most of the paintings featured in the book have now sold.
I spent a year in the mountains of Switzerland working with Factory Design Labs to create European advertising campaigns for The North Face. During my time there we developed a visual identity with a strength to match the dramatic photography employed by one of the world’s top outdoor brands. I was responsible for design and artwork as well as studio management of huge campaigns that ran above and below the line across multiple media, in print, on line and in-store. (Creative Direction by Nat Potter).
Elpida is an artist specialising in making beautiful art from organic material that we often discard. I designed a series of exhibition brochures and promotional materials as well as new visual identity for her. The concept focused on the beautiful, delicate detail within works that at first glance can appear macabre. Consideration was also given to paper stock as we wanted a tactile, organic feel to the work, so the brochures were printed on a warm, grainy, uncoated paper.
This was a fun brief! This band wanted me to conceptualise and illustrate a character for each of the 4 band members, based on the real life personalities of the vocalist, drummer, bassist and guitarist. They were sketched up by hand and then I developed a fresh and spiky illustration style to work them up on the mac.
Creating a strong logotype and branding is often the first step in any marketing exercise. I’ve designed many over the years for brands both big and small, a sample of which are shown here.
Implementation of a new visual identity for Rimmel London. I was tasked with design and artwork across a range of print, online and point-of-sale campaign materials to advertise a broad product range featuring Cara Delevingne and Rita Ora. (Creative direction by Nat Potter with art direction by Wolfgang Mitlohner).
Design and artwork for Air France’s press campaign. Artwork ran across multiple formats.
Since 2006 I have been donating my design and illustration skills to wildlife conservation projects around the world. I try to do this for at least two months per year, as time and funds allow. Giving back has led to some amazing and unique experiences on projects in Thailand, Costa Rica, Myanmar, Uruguay, Greece, and Trinidad - where I first got to work with Capuchin monkeys!
The Dog’s Trust send out a magazine called ‘WAG’ to their supporters, featuring all things doggie. I’ve been commissioned to illustrate several articles for the magazine, which is always challenging and enjoyable work.
In recent years England’s biggest music festival has been criticised for their impact on the environment once the stages have gone quiet and the revellers have gone home. This was an awareness campaign to persuade festival goers to use less water, avoid disposable plastics and to take their tents home with them rather than see them go into landfill. An enjoyable project to design and illustrate, and for a good cause.
Mervin writes crazy, beautiful poetry and he needed some covers for a range of poetry books. I was given free reign to come up with an innovative approach, and chose to couple traditional with modern by drawing inspiration from oil marbled ledgers and combining wood type ornaments with bold colour which resulted in these striking book covers.
I’ve worked on various projects for Momentum, designing DVD covers and Boxset artwork. This one for Aardman Animation’s Creature Comforts series was a joy to work on as it gave prominence to their amazing claymation characters, coupled with bold branding and use of vibrant colour. As well at the design I was required to produce the complex packaging and DVD on-body artwork.
Here the brief was to create a fresh look and feel for Kia’s owners’ magazine. Bold use of font and colour resulted in an eye-catching design that differentiated Kia’s brand from those of their competitors. (Art direction by Nat Potter).
Tasked with conceptualising, designing and artworking a DVD Boxset and DVD covers for the Abbott & Costello back catalogue by the wonderful guys at Oink Creative, I invested considerable time in researching and developing retro fonts an illustration styles and colour ways from the era to come up with a fittingly 40s look and feel for this huge boxset.
